On Monday we celebrate Memorial Day and Harvest Financial is closed. Sleep in, work in the yard, don’t shave and maybe, a BBQ. Is that all?! A quick search on Google says Memorial Day marks the beginning of Summer. True, but still not it. Memorial Day is dedicated to honor US Military personnel who gave their lives while serving in the armed forces. I encourage each of us to spend a few moments in thanks and then perhaps a few more thinking about how we can avoid any more lives lost. I realize this is a bigger problem than we as individuals can solve.
Let me plant a seed. We are coming up on election time; June for some State offices and November for a variety of Federal offices. Take a moment to consider where you are placing your vote. How does each candidate stand on those things that keep the peace. I was meeting with a client this morning and we spoke about the give and take of government. No one likes to pay taxes, but when a fire starts or our house is broken into, we appreciate the police and fire responding. As much as Nani and I fretted every time our son was re-assigned, we are thankful for his service and the protection he provided. Is your Council Member, Mayor, Governor and Congress person representing your wish for a peaceful existence. You’ve got a few free minutes this weekend, read the ballot and vote wisely.
Happy Memorial Day!
