Memorial Day weekend is celebrated in LOTS of ways. Hopefully, you take some time to reflect on the service given by so many men and women to protect our freedom. It is said that those societies who don't learn from the past, are doomed to relive it. How does that apply to financial planning?
These man and women who sacrificed for us did so in the belief of something more important than them as individuals, That together they could protect and allow ideals like democracy to flourish. That families back home could be protected from tyranny and, in deed, we could defeat tyranny. Values and ideals drove them to fight.
What are those ideals and values that get you out of bed each morning? On the hard days you press forward regardless. You stay striving.
I believe that each of those men and women had their eye on the future, to return home with honor and lead life in a society a bit better through their service. What is your vision for your future? The future of your family, children, grand children and great grand children. I am reaching here because I think we have forgotten to think about the future. There is so much NOW, that THEN gets away from us. A wise man once said the best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is today.
